Acacia Bay is one of Taupō's most sought after addresses, and Bay Vista sits comfortably among the best properties in it. A five bedroom, three bathroom holiday home with lake views, a fully self contained downstairs apartment, electric gated entry and the kind of finish that makes guests feel like they've genuinely treated themselves. It's exactly the type of property where great photography makes a direct and measurable difference to bookings.
When the owners approached me about a full photography shoot, the brief was clear. Bay Vista was a premium short stay property competing in an increasingly crowded Airbnb market, and the existing photography wasn't doing it justice. Guests were arriving to something better than the images suggested, which is a wonderful problem to have but a costly one when you're trying to attract bookings online before anyone sets foot through the gate.
The Brief
The goal was to produce architectural and lifestyle imagery that communicated the full offering at Bay Vista. Not just the rooms, but the atmosphere, the scale, the lake views from the main bedrooms, the quality of the furnishings and linen, and the overall sense that this is somewhere genuinely special to stay in Taupō. Short stay accommodation lives and dies on its photography. Travellers are making decisions based entirely on what they see before they book, and every image needs to earn its place.
The Shoot
Working through the property methodically, I photographed each bedroom configuration, the main living spaces, the self contained downstairs apartment and the outdoor areas. The two main bedrooms with their lake views were a natural centrepiece, and the quality of the furniture and hotel grade linen gave every interior shot a level of finish that photographs beautifully. Natural light was used wherever possible to keep the imagery feeling warm and inviting rather than clinical.
Alongside the architectural work, Richard's fine art prints feature throughout the property, bringing character and a sense of considered curation to each room that lifts the overall aesthetic of every shot.
The Result
The final imagery gave Bay Vista what it deserved. A visual representation that matches the reality of staying there.
